Scholarship For Single Mothers Offered by the Patsy Takemoto Mink Foundation

If you are always reading the newspapers or watch news over the TV, you are probably familiar with Patsy Takemoto Mink. She died in the year 2002. She was well known for her Educational Amendment of 1972 - the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act. Because of this, it is no longer a surprise that in spite of her death, she can still help women and a very good example is the scholarship for single mothers given by her foundation.
Every year, the Patsy Takemoto Mink Foundation awards seven students. The funds are exclusively allotted for women who are earning low income, which makes it hard for them to support their children and at the same time finish their college education. If you are a qualified candidate, you can apply for this scholarship.
To qualify, you should be of legal age or older and should be earning a low income. The foundation will not only look into your yearly income but will also determine the total family members. So if you are earning a low income, and you have many family members, you may be able to qualify.
Aside from that, you also need to be enrolled in GED programs, ESL, and skills training. It is up to you whether you will take up a bachelor, associate, masters, or a doctorate degree. Upon submission of your application form, you will also need to submit an essay.
What is the use of the essay? This is a very important part of your application because the foundation can determine how much you are willing to spend your effort and time in finishing your education. The essay should clearly state your objectives and goals in taking up the course or degree. Providing some education history can also help in your application.
With so many scholarship foundations to choose from that provide scholarship for single mothers, this foundation is one of the best. Since only seven women are chosen, you have to submit your application right away together with your essay. Being in poverty should not make you weak, and you should be like Patsy Mink during who never hesitates to make her voice heard.
